Early Reform Movement

For this paper you will create a thesis statement about one of the people listed below.  You can use the hyper links to do preliminary research on the person, or for research on a comparison person.  Your thesis statement must be approved before proceeding with the paper and is due Friday, December 5, 2003.

what you have to do now:

  1. Choose a person to research.

  2. Create a thesis about that person - eg: Horace Mann was the most detested man in history.

  3. Do preliminary research with the hyper links to ensure your thesis is plausible and provable.

  4. Get your thesis approved and then move on with the research to prove your thesis.

THEN: THE PAPER

  1. The Paper must be 2.5-3.5 pages in length and written with adherence to the Cherokee Research method. ( which can be found on the Media Center Website)

  2. The Paper must prove your thesis and not simply be a report on a reformer.

  3. The Paper must utilize at least two scholarly sources other than these links to prove your thesis.  Of course, you must document the links used as well as your textbook if you use that.

  4. The Paper can be submitted early or you can conference with me after school PRIOR to the due date to make sure you are on the right track. ( I strongly recommend you at least stay after school.)

  5. The Paper is due Monday February 2nd, 2004.
